Amanda Brugel

Brugel had a childhood in Courtice near Oshawa the city of Ontario. She aspired to be an elite dancer, however due to an explosive development spurt, she exceeded the size of her dancing partner. In an article that was published in The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall while wearing heels. As I grew older than my male friends, I quit. The former dancers usually turn to acting, and Brugel wasn't an exception. The drama instructor at her high school helped push Bruce in the direction she wanted to go in. The teacher was the one who advised her to audition as Anne for their school's annual production. She auditioned and ended up playing the character of Anne of Green Gables. The Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she was a theatre student and earned a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in 2000. For the last two decades her career has seen her in more than 60 shows and films. The role she was most famous for was Rita (shown beneath) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the only Canadian participant on the show in Season 1 of the series, and she was only seen on occasion.
